Two men held for cheating people over government job

Chhattisgarh Police on Sunday arrested two persons for cheating six people of Rs 12 lakhs by promising them jobs in state Secretariat and other departments here.

A woman accomplice is on the run.

Prashant Soni (31) and Vikarm Netam alias Uttam, both from Raipur, have been taken into custody, Raipur Senior Superintendent of Police Prashant Agrawal said. Efforts are on to nab Pinky Kaur.  After arrest, the two told the police that they cheated the victims between September and October 2022.

They took Rs 1.40 lakhs from Nilkanth Gond, Rs 1.50 lakhs from Nandani Dhiwar, Rs 1.68 lakhs from Geeta Dewangan, Rs 1.72 lakhs from Surekha Shorie, Rs 2.50 lakhs from Meenakshi Mishra and Rs 3.20 lakhs from Ghanshyam Dewangan. A court sent them to prison.
